80 Years and Counting!

Did you know we have been around that long? The league was one of the first rental leagues at the North Hill Curling Club and started in 1941. I smile as I’m posting this because the quote on the About the League page says that the league has “had some ups and downs”. WOW … we lived that this year didn’t we?? BUT… we formed a league, we played, we just couldn’t finish the year. I hope that the 2021/2022 Season will be much MUCH better and look forward to seeing all of you (and some of your friends perhaps??) back on the ice in October 2021. We WILL celebrate 80 Years of Curling and Friendship next year!!

Until then, stay safe, keep healthy.

North Hill Curling Club Closes for the Season

Given recent announcements by the Government of Alberta, the North Hill Curling Club advised the League today that they will be closing for the season. The Club expects to announce information about fee refunds in the next week. Paid members of the Saturday Night Modified Mixed League will be advised on refunds as soon as possible. Many thanks to Todd, his staff, and the Board of Directors for doing everything they could to make the season happen. We will see you next year!!

Club Closure Extended

With the recent increases in Covid-19 cases in AB, the provincial government has extended restrictions to group sports such as curling. Based on these new restrictions, the Board of Directors at the North Hill Curling Club has decided to close the club until at least 11 January 2021. This means that the earliest the league will be back curling is 16 January 2021.

We will look at how we modify our league schedule in the new year once we understand ice availability.

We would like to wish everyone a HEALTHY Christmas Season and look forward to seeing everyone in 2021. Here’s to a much much MUCH better 2021 for all!!

Curling Suspended in Calgary due to Covid-19

We are sorry to report that AHS has suspended indoor team sports in Calgary (and other parts of Alberta) from 13-27 November 2020. While we would love to be out playing the game we love, we 100% support the recommendations of AHS as we see the escalation of Covid-19 cases. Stay safe and stay home if you can!

Website Updated for the 2020-2021 Season!

Sorry for the delay folks, but I THINK all of the information has been updated. Please let us know if links don’t seem to be working by sending us a quick message. Quick access to the current Schedule and Standings are on the sidebar to your right. Don’t forget to review the Updated League Rules and check out the Curling Links to keep on top of changes in the world of curling.

In these times, being able to curl is a privilege not a right. Remember that curling clubs are closing down in central Canada due to the spike in Covid-19 cases – do your bit to protect yourself, friends, relatives and our community…. and keep our clubs open!

New Season Starting with a Covid19 Policy

Here we go another season

Season:  17 October to 6 March

Curling Nights:  15

Cost:  $800 per team (NO increase from last year)

Format: “Modified Mixed”

The NHCC COVID-19 Protocols are in effect

What does this mean?

The club is also requiring ALL CURLERS AND SPARES to sign a “Declaration of Compliance” and “Waiver” prior to your first game.

The Declaration of Compliance talks about your health at the time signing the document but also has requirements to preclude yourself from the club and reporting to organizers if your health condition changes.

If you are bringing in a spare NOT on the spare list, it will be YOUR responsibility to have the two forms completed and provided to me prior to the game.

See the Covid19 League changes here or by selecting the tab above.
